This lunch ‘n learn Webex will be a 40 minute demonstration using VPAT to analyze performance constraints and then assess Capacity Planning requirements to resolve performance and meet growing business needs. We will use some sample data from case-studies that have been performed to show how the tool helped and simplified analysis and conclusions.  

VPAT is free to download and is a lightweight tool that uses RMF delay metrics and other system data to provide visualization and analysis of performance.    

It has an AI-like analysis component that can help solve problems that are sometimes hard to diagnose.   

The capacity planning portion of the demonstration will include use of zPCR based data and will show how a capacity solution was arrived at.   We’ll close with time for some Q/A.

Speaker Bio:

Seth Miller’s career spans more than 40 years in mainframe systems.  Starting out as a mainframe computer operator, his career included applications programming on early versions of CICS, DB2 and IMS databases.   Seth then moved into systems programming where he specialized in CICS at Credit Suisse/First Boston.    Seth then moved to AIG where he moved into management of many technical areas including CICS/MQ, DASD/Tape/Storage and then into Performance Analysis and Capacity Planning where he spent the last 20 of his 29 years at AIG.    During that time Seth managed and oversaw the exponential growth of mainframes at AIG including one of the largest mainframe installations of SAP and a multi-year venture into insourcing other mainframe shops.  Seth developed many methodologies that enhanced capacity management and delivery at AIG.
